Animal life includes eagles, foxes and wild boar which can often be seen along the coastal road on quiet summer evenings. On the shores of the Gulf of Izmir the water is clear and fishing, swimming and other water sports are popular.
Mass tourism has not encroached on this part of the Aegean (there are no package tours here) although the area is popular with German, French and Turkish visitors.
