It has everything for a family day out and the water is safe for bathing. Beach umbrellas and sunbeds are available for hire and there are shaded cafés for snacks or lunch.
In the evening there are beach side restaurants with music and good food until late in a friendly atmosphere.
Mordogan, just a few minutes on the regular buses, has shops to supply most needs and there is a bank (with cash machine), post office, English speaking chemist and doctor as well as two supermarkets. The harbour area has café bars and restaurants and is popular with European visitors in summer, most of whom have their own properties here. Overall the peninsula is unspoilt by package tourism and provides its own delights for those prepared to explore.
The mountains of the interior are quite rugged and Karaburun towards the head of the peninsula is a trekking centre. Water sports including scuba diving and wind surfing are catered for and fishing is popular.
The climate is typically Mediterranean but with the advantage of a cooling breeze each afternoon which makes the summer heat more comfortable.
Having a car is an advantage although the regular bus service every ˝ hour means that visiting the little fishing villages along the coast is quite easy.
Having the option to use the roof terrace room as an additional bedroom makes this useful for a large family or friends and the low price is an added attraction. |
